What the Course is About
Before we begin, it is important for you to understand what the course is about and what it is not.
This course is about how to prep for the USMLE Step 1. It will teach you all you need to know to pass or even ace this exam. It will teach you how to handle situations that can affect your prep, including how to handle motivation, fear, stress, etc. It will teach you how to take exams, specifically the type of exam USMLE is known for. It will teach you how to manage your time, both during prep and on exam day. It will teach you how to optimize learning, so you learn the most efficient way you are able. It will teach you what to study and how much of it to study. Studying the wrong things or the right things at the wrong level of detail can wreck havoc to your prep.
What this course won’t do is teach you medicine. Most of you already know medicine. That is what you went to medical school for. For those who have been years out of medical school, there are a lot of good study materials out there that you can use to review what you have forgotten. Part of the course is to guide you on your choice of study materials in order to properly master step 1. You can opt to use study materials (reviewers and qbanks) I have developed if available. They are optimized for the study methods you are learning in the course. However, it’s alright if you chose other study materials recommended in the course. They are good. I know because I used some of them to ace this exam.
This course is also not a one-on-one mentoring course and therefore do not expect one-on-one mentoring. Ask your questions during the Q & A sessions. If you feel you need closer mentoring, then apply to the moderated prep course also found in the website as that includes one-on-one guidance on your prep.
This course will teach you the tools and skills you need to pass this exam. However, it will not take the test for you. It will not study for you. You still will have to do that yourself. As Morpheus said to Neo in the Matrix. ‘I can only show you the way, you must go through the door yourself.’
