I think it's a good idea, but it will be really difficult to leverage all the people with so many different backgrounds. Maybe a basic read is needed BEFORE people [like me] join. I deeply respect Askdoc's initiatives to go to most unknown/difficult territories! He sounds like a passionate person...

Seriously, is any statistics available on IMG residency acceptance from overseas (without visa, etc.)? I bow to those people and feel totally useless not being able to try hardER myself... Plus, where people get info on other than Match residency programs? As far as I understand, Match is only a portion of ALL residency programs available, which change greatly year by year, and is mainly aimed for top-notch AMGs. Thank you!

Dear Askdoc,
I am curious about your opinion. I failed my first and last by far Step I exam back in 2001 (was not ready and shouldn't take it on the first place), then my professional interests took me elsewhere. However, life realities brought me back to the ECFMG certificate track (how crazy is that?). I am an [almost] expert in HOW to prepare, but was never able to organize/push myself through this properly, plus the materials I read/about were mainly for fresh graduates. Any motivational/reading materials suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Thanks Askdoc
I really appreciate that. I want to practise no matter what because I feel guilty about it. I have no confidence because of that. As a child I always dreamed about it no matter in which country. I just couldn't do it because of several problems. Now I am at the edge of the cliff as far as medicine is concerned. I certainly do not want to die with this burden. I am a US citizen. Now please can you tell me what's the best way to prepare? To score high how did you study and what prep material did you use? I might need some intensive course. What's your advise?

hi, I am an old graduated IMG , already passed step 1 and 2, since i did not apply for residency this year , I am planning to take step 3 and also make some externship . i am really focused in what i want , which is work as Md in USA.Please give some advice for material review for step 3 and also any website to look into USCS, cause i like apply directly to the hospitals cause those companies that hook u up charge too much. Also like to say to my colleges in the same situation Please do not surrender, keep your self up. thanks.

hi mavi2012,
My suggestion is to use the qbank and the result of NBME 7 to find your weak points. Restudy those weak points for the next 3 weeks and do another NBME. If your score goes up, good you can proceed with the exam. good score means at least 204 in the NBME. Anything lower than that then there is a chance you will fail the exam. If your score does not go up, it means you have plateaued and sitting for the exam will be a mistake because you will fail. You need to take a break, restart your review and postpone your exam. So next 3 weeks is crucial. Keep me informed and Good luck.
